BRIAN'S RUN
On May 24, 2002, through no fault of his own, Brian
Pankau was tragically
killed in a motor vehicle accident, which he was powerless to avoid. He was 18 years old, just one day away from graduating from High
School. We would like to tell you a little about Brian to give you a chance to get to know him.
Brian's outgoing personality began to show through at the age of 3 when he
acted in the "King and I" at the Fine Arts Guild community theater
in Estes Park, Colorado. His "acting career" continued and at the age of 11
where he acted the lead roll in "Mame". This part of his life culminated with
his being elected senior class president at Middle Park High School. He was
also an accomplished athlete and student. He became an avid runner, participating
in both track and cross-country and lettering in these sports all four years of high
school. Lettering in academics and choir rounded out his many talents.
Brian was to attend CU at Colorado Springs where he planned to study
communications and compete on the track team. His love for communications
was apparent in the activities he chose to spend his free time doing. He was
an announcer for the weekly Rodeo in Fraser, Colorado. He also interned at the
local radio station where he broadcast the local high school football games to
the community.
Brian is most remembered for his smile, laughter, and his ability to bring people
together in a way that no one else could. He was the unofficial cheerleader for his
school. Ball games instantly had more "spirit" when Brian was there for the game.
His open, honest, caring and loving personality was ever-present and he never hesitated
to let those he loved know that they were loved.
Brian was known to say, "Go Big or Go Home" when referring to activities and goals.
It was his way of saying "never give up, give it your all".
